Kootenay Upcycle Designs

Peggy Toews and Kim Dick, the creators of Kootenay Upcycle Designs are good friends with a love and passion for vintage treasures. Their collection of conscientious clothing and accessories are created with salvaged and reclaimed items to create unique one of a kind designs.

“Upcycling” gives new life to an item that is no longer needed or wanted. It makes use of already existing pieces, uses few resources in its creation and keeps “unwanted” items out of the waste stream, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable world. The process is eco-friendly and often creates an item of greater value and usefulness.

Upcycling is not a new concept to us. Our grandmothers and mothers were thrifty and reused almost everything. They were creative in repurposing items over and over until they were no longer useful.
